About Me
Light has always fascinated me, how even the smallest glimmer of light can chase away the darkness. Some of us need and may be searching for that light, to chase away the darkness, bringing peace and hope.
Hello, my name is Carli and I am the owner of Sunbeam Counseling. My passion is helping my clients identify and find the light that will show them their pathway forward out of the darkness of depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and other difficult life experiences.
I specialize in working with children and teens and enjoy working with adults and parents. I have found that the earlier a child can receive support and counseling, the more beneficial it will be for them and their families.
In addition to the joy that comes from continual learning and helping others find peace, I love spending time with my family, being out in nature, traveling, creating music together, and eating dark chocolate.
Training & Experience
I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am also a Certified Clinical Sandtray Therapist (CCST).
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Brigham Young University and a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage, Family, and Couple Counseling at Texas State University. I am working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist. I have experience working with small children, pre-teens, teens, parents, and adults. My work has been at the Phoenix Center, the Northwest Counseling and Wellness Center, Hope Hospice, and within several school districts, counseling students from Elementary to High School.
Therapeutically, I specialize in Sandtray and Play Therapy, using a combination of Child/Person-Centered Therapy and Solution-Focused interventions. I like to build on my client’s strengths, gifts, and abilities and help them find solutions that work for them, creating an environment where they feel safe, seen, and heard.
Other interventions I use in counseling include expressive arts, mindfulness, music, and child-parent relationship training. I have a passion for working with children, adolescents, individuals, and families-- to improve and create positive, lasting change.
Spirituality is an important component in my counseling, if desired by the client.
